I once read that exclusively breastfeeding an infant consumes 30+ hours of your week. That’s 30+ hours every week that I personally am sitting still nursing. What’s a girl to do? I figured I’d read lots of new books or work my way through the Bible during the first few months of breastfeeding; but no, I’ve gone down the Pinterest rabbit hole instead and found monthly favorite blog posts and videos. As I’ve enjoyed these rather helpful monthly favorite posts so much, I thought I’d begin to document some of my own.
I thought I’d pick a favorite in each category and challenge myself to post these favorites each month.
My amazing cousin sent me a Halo sleep sack and I had no idea how incredible it was. During the newborn phase we used it to swaddle but this month it was time to drop the swaddle. The Halo made the transition a cinch by allowing me to move from swaddling both arms, to swaddling one arm, to swaddling no arms with the velcro still hugging his tummy. They have cotton, fleece, and muslin varieties which is great for continuing “safe sleep” practices no matter the season.
Zucchini zoodles are one of my favorite pasta alternatives but admittedly more tedious to prepare than traditional pasta. Enter: KitchenAid spiralizer attachment. You screw this bad boy into your KitchenAid mixer (top 3 wedding gift favorite), load your zucchini, and turn on the mixer to watch it spiralize your veggies into excellent noodles. It turns out lovely, even zoodles and clean up is so much less of a hassle than any other zoodle tool I’ve found. It’s also hearty enough to put up with butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and carrots. I made zoodles at least one night a week this month!
I have never, ever found a mascara that I truly love and always end up buying a new brand everytime in hopes I’ll found my go-to. Well, thanks to a recommendation from a monthly favorites video, I decided to try the L’Oreal Lash Paradise in Washable Blackest Black and YOU GUYS, THIS IS IT. It comes off at the end of the day without having to pull your eyelashes out, just one coat makes for the longest and thickest lashes you could ever desire, it doesn’t flake or smudge, and you can have a hormonal crying episode in the grocery store without it running down your face *ahem*. And it’s only $7! I will never buy another mascara ever again.
Technically I discovered the Mercari app earlier than September but I’ve done the most transactions this month so it’s fresh on my mind. Mercari is basically like Craiglist through the mail wher you can buy and sell baby items, clothes, makeup, household items, etc. They partner with the USPS to get great shipping rates. I have scored some great deals on here and sold everything from an old shower curtain to “Bless Our Marriage” photo frames that we got one to many of for our wedding. You can check it out and sign up with code NKPVXG to get a free $10 and give me $2 too. #winwin
Here’s to September favorites! Please comment and tell me some of your favorites. They might become mine too. 🙂
